Activity description
This all-inclusive glamping trip will see you out of Tromsø city and into the bare Arctic wilderness for a night of dazzling lights with furry friends, all in the comfort of our modern wood cabins.
Meet us at 6 PM in Tromsø Centre to embark on the short first leg of our journey, which will take us out of the city and its light pollution. Once we have arrived, we will introduce you to your guide, as well as your new furry friend for the next 18 or so hours. We will also take this moment to equip you with thermal overalls and boots so that you are nice and warm for the entirety of your stay.
The evening will then properly commence with a guided tour of our dog kennels, where you will be able to meet and cuddle all 200 of our energetic and friendly Alaskan huskies. We will show you how we care for these lively pups, who require 24-hour love and plenty of exercises. After the tour, we will serve a hot dinner of Bacalao - a traditional Norwegian fish dish made from locally sourced cod. You will then be free to spend the evening around a roaring bonfire, as you socialise and wait for an eventual Northern Lights sighting. The dark and often cloudless skies nearby Tromsø are known throughout the world to be one of the best areas to view this beautiful phenomenon of green lights. Sit in comfort on your cabin patio as you wonder at the mesmerizing Arctic night sky, and feel free to use the snow boots we provided to wander the nearby valleys of snow for different views of the aurora. Finally, once it's time to retreat to bed, you will not have to sacrifice the view, as our overhead windows allow you to gaze out at the night sky directly from your bed!
The cabin itself is equipped with everything you might need to have a dreamy night's sleep. The SAMINA sleeping system integrated into each lodge has been named the world's best bed, while the mattress and duvet are made of pure sheep wool, ensuring maximum coziness and comfort.
In the morning, you will be provided with a hearty breakfast to start your day. Then, it will be time to take the dogs out on the sleds. You have the choice to book a sled as a passenger, where an experienced guide will do all the pushing and you can simply glide along in the sled. If you're in the mood for a bit of a workout, we suggest you book the self-drive option, where you will take turns driving the sled in pairs, pushing along with the Alaskan huskies. Dog sledding is an iconic part of the Norwegian experience, and it will be finished in a similar fashion with a hot lunch of Bidos, a reindeer stew typical to the Sami people of Finnmark. This hearty meal will restore you after your outing in the snow.
After lunch, it will be time to say goodbye to the dogs before returning safely to Tromsø.
